Cyprus is a beautiful island in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, at the cross-roads of three continents; Europe, Asia and Africa. It has one of the oldest histories of the world dating back over 9000 years. The capital of Cyprus is Niscosia, which is also the alrgest city in Cyprus.
Cyprus is divided into 6 administrative districts namely Famagusta, Kyrenia, Larnaca, Limassiol, Nicosia and Paphos. A buffer zone occupied by the United Nations Forces seperates the divided island into a northern sector, the turkish cypriot sector and a southern sector the greek cypriot sector.
Cyprus has a typical Mediterranean climate - warm and dry with little rainfall between March and November. The island experiences mild wet winters and dry hot summers. The high mountain areas are cooler, with more moisture in the air. In Cyprus traffic circulates on the left similar to the UK, traffic signs are international.
